Governance Arrangements

CRIA is constituted as a statutory corporation and a NSW Government Agency. CRIA is to be taken for all purposes as a continuation of, and the same legal entity, as its predecessor, RIC.

As a statutory corporation, the affairs of CRIA are managed and controlled by the Chief Executive, in accordance with any directions from the Director–General Transport NSW and the Minister for Transport.

In order to assist the Chief Executive to carry out his functions and to achieve CRIA’s objectives, an Advisory Committee has been established. The Advisory Committee members make recommendations to the Chief Executive in relation to the emerging risks and opportunities, organisational performance and strategic direction of CRIA.

A CRIA Audit & Risk Committee, comprising a majority of independent members, assists the Chief Executive by overseeing and monitoring CRIA’s governance, risk and control frameworks.

A CRIA Executive Risk & Safety Committee assists the Chief Executive in reviewing and monitoring CRIA’s operational safety risks.

CRIA’s Corporate Governance Charter, which provides further detail, is available in the Reports and Publications section of this website.
